A Novice's Guide For Playing Craps

Playing craps can be very confusing for beginners. Craps can get into some very complicated betting strategies and players make or lose a lot of money in the process. Online casino gambling is no different, unless you are playing a free online casino that offers craps you can play with play money or on a freeroll game.

This article will attempt to outline basic betting strategies for craps since even those basics can be hard to grasp. Afterward, if you get comfortable with these, then you can explore learning complex betting strategies-and even then, learning at a free online casino is the recommended way to go.

If you were playing craps in a real physical casino, you'd notice this game involves a shooter and four individual dealers to play and it moves really fast. Online casino gambling, however, allows the shooter to move around the table. Also, the computer generates the payouts and collecting winnings and losses.

The basic bet in craps is called the "pass line." Alternatively, you can choose the "don't pass" line-and that means you're betting against the people who are betting on the "pass line" bet. The first roll is called a "come out" roll. That roll sets the number the shooter wants to roll again before "crapping" out with a 7 on the dice. When the "come out" roll is being tossed, a black "off" marker is shown. If an 11 or a 7 is rolled on the dice during the "come out" roll, you'll win even money. After that you don't want to roll a 7 until after you roll the same number as is on the "point" or "come out" roll.

You also do not want to roll a 2, 3, or 12 on the "come out" roll, because that means you lose. Rolling a 8, 9, or 10 or a 4, 5, or 6 is desirable. That roll sets your point. So if you roll an 8, then 8 is the point. You need to roll your point (in this case an 8) again before you roll a 7 to win. So to start the game you place your bet on the pass line and you bet that you'll hit the point before you roll a 7. If you choose to place your bet on the "don't pass" line, that means you are betting you will not hit the point before you roll a 7. In other words, you're betting you'll roll a 7 before you roll an 8 in this case.

Let's look at an online casino gambling scenario to illustrate the point:

First the dealer puts the black "off" marker out so everyone can place their bets. Then the shooter rolls for the "come out" dice. He gets a 7 so that means everyone wins their bet-unless they placed a "don't pass" bet. The players who did that actually lose.

The game goes again but the shooter rolls a 6 this time. The "off" marker is flipped over to white and the "on" side and placed by the 6. Now the shooter will continue to roll, and everyone who bet on the "pass" line fervently hopes the shooter will get a 6 before rolling a 7, because then the will all win. He does and everyone is happy-except the "don't pass" bettors who lose.

Continue on for another round with the shooter rolling a 5 this time around. The "on" marker gets placed by the 5. Now the people who placed bets on the "pass" line hope the shooter will roll a 5 before he rolls a 7. But it is not meant to be. The shooter rolls a 7 first. So now everyone loses. Except those betters that bet on the "don't pass" line. This time they win.

Online casino gambling playing craps can be much more complex than this, however, it's a good idea to figure out how to play this game using a free online casino games where you don't bet real money and to get confident in betting with the basics before getting more advanced.
